Boulder Junction Candidate Forum Will NOT Include the Clerk/Treasurer Candidates

The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods regrets to announce that the Clerk/Treasurer segment of the March 19 Candidate Forum has been cancelled. The forum will still take place as scheduled (6:30 - 8:30 pm at the Boulder Junction Community Center, 5392 Park St.) with the candidates for Town Supervisor.

All the candidates for Town Supervisor and Clerk/Treasurer had received invitations to participate in the forum via email on February 4. Incumbent Clerk/Treasurer Kendra Moraczewski had initially confirmed her participation in the forum, but later cancelled for reasons related to the recent death of her father. This left only one candidate, Daniel Driscoll, participating in the forum for the Clerk/Treasurer office, a so-called “empty chair” debate.

League-sponsored candidate forums are subject to compliance with regulations by the Federal Election Commission, the Federal Communications Commission, and the Internal Revenue Service; as well as League of Women Voters guidelines. The common guiding principle is that there be fair and impartial treatment of all candidates, with nothing that promotes or advances one candidate over another.

The candidates in the April 2 Spring Election are: Town Chairman: Dennis Reuss (incumbent, unopposed); Town Supervisor: Denny McGann (incumbent), Laura Bertch, James Galloway, and Charlie Spencer; and Clerk/Treasurer: Kendra Moraczewski (incumbent) and Daniel Driscoll.
