Ever thought of serving on a School Board or in local government – Town or City or at the County level? The process is not complicated and can be done with the local municipal or county clerk.
In order to have one’s name placed on the ballot for the 2018 Spring Election the following forms need to be completed and returned by January 2, 2018: Registration Form, Declaration of Candidacy, and Nomination Papers.
All three forms can be obtained from the municipal or county clerk or downloaded from the Wisconsin Elections Commission. Stop by the Ben Guthrie Public Library, Lac du Flambeau, on September 14th after 11 am for assistance.
A member of the nonpartisan groups, League of Women Voters of the Northwoods and/or Citizen's for Education in Town Governance, will be available to assist individuals interested in running for the offices with the paperwork needed on September 14th at 11:00 am – 5:30 pm at the Ben Guthrie Lac du Flambeau Public Library.
NOTE: At Lac du Flambeau’s Annual Meeting on April 18, 2017, the electors voted to expand the Town Board by two seats resulting in a five person board. The nonpartisan election for these two additional seats will take place next spring: Spring Primary, February 20, 2018 (if there are more than 4 candidates) followed by the General Election on April 3, 2018
